I am at this hotel right now and I really love it. This is my first time ever in India while driving here from the airport in a taxi I was absolutely amazed at the people absolutely everywhere... we passed a lot of slums and then finally I saw this hotel in the middle of all the chaos and it just looked so incredibly inviting compared to everything around it! There isn't much to do within walking distance. There are a couple hospitals close by and near those there are pharmacies and small shops, but the real shopping is a few km away. There are no good restaurants within walking distance (except inside the hotel).

Security is tight..they search all arriving cars and you have to go through metal detetors on the way in and have your bags x-rayed. Sensible precautions in light of the terrorist attacks here of a few years ago.

The staff is extremely welcoming, friendly, efficient, and provides outstanding service. I paid for my first night and used cash/points for 2 nights. At checkin the counter told me (without asking) that I had been given a 1 category upgrade to a Tower room on the 24th floor (out of 30). I said that's fine.. I didn't push for anything more. The room is very nice but it's just a regular room. As a Plat I was also given free access to the 30th floor lounge for comp nightly cocktails from 6-8pm. And coupons good for laundering/pressing of up to 4 items.

As others have mentioned the breakfast buffet is really great.. they've got an omelet station and a station for this Indian crepe like thing that's stuffed with potato..very tasty. The normal price is 500 Rupees (about $10)..and incredible value. But for whatever reason breakfast is free for me.. maybe a Plat benefit, not sure.

I used the concierge to set me up with a 5 hour city tour in a private car with guide..and it happened that another guest wanted to do the same so we shared and it worked out well. Very reasonably priced.

One thing to mention..the hotel does have a car service for its guests and last night I used on of their cars to get me to a restaurant in south Mumbai. The ride down cost 1,200 Rupees (about $USD24). On the way back a took a standard air conditioned taxi and it cost me 200 Rupees, or $4. Lesson learned!

Mumbai is quite a place.. I'm very glad to have seen it, but I don't think I'll be back (at least not for a vacation). But if I do come back I will definitely stay at this hotel again!
