I flew out MAN-DXB-KUL for a 5 day business trip and my hand luggage weighed in at 9kg so I had to off load stuff to get it down. Even when I said that a lot of it was irreplaceable (student exam scripts that I had to mark so genuinely irreplaceable) the desk clerk was unmoving. I ended up having to put stuff I needed on the flight in the hold because I couldn't risk checking my laptop in)

I got my own back (in my head at least) by buying four very heavy magazines airside.

Was not very happy to see lots of people on flight with large carry on bags plus laptops plus handbags when I had put everything into one bag and suffered for it.
