While not an Ipad user, it is not a 3 minute inconvenience, the time from FA check
before take-off to seat-belt sign off after crusing altitude could be well over 30-45
minutes, or more in case of turbulence.
If one's only entertainment ( ebooks, movies) is on the Ipad, it does seem a great loss.

I would recommend the old stand-by - a good paperback.
