This post was the only one in the thread which mentioned eVIPs on AA. To confirm, if the ticket is issued by AA, and one is flying on AA metal with an AA flight number, eVIPs can be used?
EDIT: I did find a bunch more posts in this thread that mention eVIPs, but they didn't come up in my search results, for some reason. Thanks anyway for the responses!
