I ask because while at DCA a couple of weeks ago I and another person waited for a good 5 minutes before a TSO said they could do the patdown

Besides our stuff going out of sight after going through the xray, including having a PAX stack bins on top my laptop which resulted in me getting a TSO to secure my items, the TSO that did my pat down was standing "watching" the line doing nothing the whole time I was waiting. Rather annoying.

After that I thought hmm, if I refused to send my stuff through perhaps that might things happen faster. Though I realize the PAX behind may get a little annoyed.

Anyone ever try that approach?
FT search is useless!

Someone posted on this forum about this recently. Depending on the checkpoint, you might lose out on an opportunity to SDOO (if the WTMDs are 'open for business'). IIRC, poster held up until his groper had was there. I'm not sure how it would hold up other pax - I don't think he put his things on the belt until he had his groper.

I already lock my carry-ons, but I may just start calling for a supervisor. More often than not, I am not only out of sight of my bags, if I mention it to the TSO 'guarding' me, the first thing that TSO does is shift to stand directly in my line of sight.
