I just had to cancel plans I had for an India trip which means that as things stand I'm 2500 miles short of OnePass Gold.

My first question is whether it makes sense to spend a couple of hundred dollars to achieve gold as opposed to remaining silver. It just bugs me that I'll be so close at year end.

Second question is whether somebody can suggest some good value 2500 mile flights out of IAH.

Finally, do I actually have to fly on the flight or can I just pay and not show up? Will I still get the miles?
