The trip:

I had to fly from IAD to Austria for business. I normally fly out of SFO, so it was kind of neat to fly out of IAD. I had been to the UA international first terminal at SFO, so I wanted to see the one at IAD.

The flight was on a B777 new configuration first. I have never flown on a new configuration first. I had been in business new configuration many times, and I really enjoy it. However, the new configuration first was new for me. I must say that the seat is much nicer than business. It's not just a business class seat without a seat mate. The seat is wider, plusher, and much more comfortable. The IFE is identical to the business class. There is also storage in first, unlike in business, which has zero storage (except on the window side of the B747 upper deck).

This is a 5:45pm flight, and we arrive at FRA around 7am, allowing us to connect easily. I had read on FT about the LH welcome lounge, so I want to check it out since I had a long layover. I also cover the LH welcome lounge in my TR.
