This was already answered. It's just 4 segments. They can be on the same reservation.

As someone making his first jump into status this year, I still don't get this. I don't see why anyone, regardless of status, deserves something for free that someone else is willing to pay for (miles, money, SWU, CR1 or whatever they're called now). I understand with the loss of the 500 mile upgrades, there are fewer options now, but paying customer > elite customer, IMHO. Upgrade with miles, and you'll get priority over a GM upgrading with miles. If you upgrade with miles, can you get UDU/CPU instead and get your miles refunded? If you can, I don't see any problem at all. If not, maybe that should be changed...
