UA may be screwing the lowest two tiers, but I will say they're not exactly making 1Ks "happy beyond their expectations." Basically, the changes weren't as bad as blogged about. That doesn't mean they were good, either.

Good changes for 1Ks would have been things like SWUs good on all fares or taking priority over other upgrade instruments, an increased elite mileage bonus (instead of the status quo), and the like.

1Ks still lose out on upgrade priority for UDU to Y/B fares for 2Ps, for crying out loud. (The only benefit here is that 1Ks can get "instant upgrades" on some M fares, but given that "uncleared instant upgrades" outrank UDU, SWU, CR1, and mileage in priority--sorted by fare class, then status, then time--means a 2P on a B will beat a 1K on M. The only thing that "wasn't as bad" as Lucky's blog suggested was that 1Ks don't lose out to GMs since GMs don't get instant upgrades...)
