As for restauarants, we would appeciate advice as to something that is within walking distance with great New England cuisine: lobster etc.

Thanks again

Your a bit late in the season for great lobster but I prefer the food at Henreitta's Table over Rialto. They are both in The Charles. It's a very much farm to table menu and fresh New England produce. Rialto is about the same but Rialto is that little bit more haute cuisine.
I actually prefer Rialto to Henrietta's, but as they are very different restaurants, it's worth checking out their menus before making a decision between the two. Also, as you note, Rialto is higher end. And Henrietta's is an excellent breakfast option.

For lobster, there's a Legal Sea Foods directly adjacent to the hotel. It's a good-not-great seafood restaurant, but perfectly acceptable for a traditional New England lobster dinner.

My favorite Cambridge restaurants are Oleana and Craigie on Main, both short cab rides (or walks, if you're up to it) from Harvard Square. Rendezvous also is a good option, and is an easier reservation than either Oleana or Craigie.
