How timely....this heard on the DL001 this morning after arrival into LHR. We touched town some 10 minutes early but then sat on the tarmac near T4 for around 20 minutes before going on stand. It turned out to be a plane had not vacated our stand due to some faulty GSE so they had to find another for the push-back. The pilot made the following announcement

"Well folks, this is the flight deck and we arrived slightly early for the party today. The restaurant is pretty full so we had a word with the chap who stands guard at the entrance but he said the folks at our table haven't left yet, apparently they had a bit of difficulty getting the salt cellar to work so the server had to find them another one. This had a knock-on effect and made them late for leaving. We have just had a word with the maitre d and have even offered him 20 bucks....but no one can shift these folks out of their seat it seems. So we are just gonna hang around here at the entrance for a while and make sure the couple at our table can see us waiting and hope we can embarass them into leaving. Will let you all know just as soon as they seem to be getting up and wiping the ketchup of their ties with their napkins"
