All the cabs take credit cards and they have passenger card swipe devices right by your seat. Very few DC cabs take CCs, although this number has increased owing to the decision a few years ago do dispense with the "zone" system and actually charge a metered rate.

BTW, in my discussions with RedTop drivers, the management charges them 6% on a credit sale...So, make it worth their while....
If you get in the cab line at DCA, you will be assigned a DC or VA cab depending on which one is next. Red Top (VA) and a very few DC cabs take CC's. About 75% of the time, the cab line is 1-2 minutes at most. So, if you don't mind waiting, call a Red Top. If you want to get to your room, take the next cab and expect to pay cash. DCA to downtown is rarely more than $20 including tip.
