I added a 10 year old nephew to travel with me in July on a previously booked solo flight - Although I could not add him to my PNR, I called the CP line, kept them on the phone while I booked his ticket and got a PNR and had them link the two PNRs (since he was a minor) so that it was obvious he was not unaccompanied.

All went smoothly.
