I agree that the pilot in command of 3407 isn't excused in making poor decisions and the training department should have caught this and either perform more training or refuse his upgrade, but what person would know out of all the regional airlines out there that there are other similar pilots "just getting by" at that airline? His record was so publicly examined, that most people couldn't believe such a pilot was allowed to fly. But in fact many pilots have check ride failures prior to their airline carrier extending from their first ever check ride as a private pilot.

So I agree with the brake down in the training department and that this particular pilot should have been reevaluated, but saying the airline is dangerous as a whole is a fallacious argument. Ther are excellent pilots at all
the airlines that I would trust with my safety and Colgan is one of them. Their training department is now one of the best in the industry and pushing fear into people saying flying Colgan is dangerous is near-sighted at best.
