Yes it is possible.

This just happened for a domestic F award ticket I purchased for a friend of mine. In this case, there was an EQP change and there were fewer seats in F as originally scheduled. A call to DL got the difference in F to Y miles refunded, but still....

As I said in an earlier reply - keep checking your inineraries!
