The other thing with flying via HNL is that some flights are on JQ (not sure how this works with BA awards) but QF flights are on the 763, so Dreamtime seats, rather than the Skybed that you will get on the 744/380 you will get out of LAX.

Having said that though, 10 years ago I had HEAPS of flights on Dreamtime seats, over 14 hour sectors, and I survived, it was state-of-the-art at the time, so I don't think you will be too badly served.
