CUN is considered a high-fraud area and you may find that your credit card is declined if an attempt is made to use it in CUN or that you are subjected to a lengthy series of questions by your bank's security folks before any charge is authorized.
Although you say that you are gone for a day and taking cash, it's always good to have cc access in case plans don't work out.
Chase, for instance, has a specific feature on its website where you can list upcoming travel.
