Y/J reward amt discrepancies: N. America to Australia via Asia
Hi, sorry if this has been addressed in another thread... I searched but haven't found anything.
So I am trying to fly a one-way J reward CMH-MEL in late January. There is no TPAC UA availability, big surprise. So instead I want to fly via Asia, which I understand is permitted.
The CO award chart shows 40k for Y and 67.5k for J.
I get can the Y award to price for 40k: I use Multiple Destinations and input CLE-NRT for 1/29/2012 and NRT-MEL for 1/30/2012. After I select segments, the award prices out to 40k for the journey. No prob.
On the other hand, when I use the SAME search terms but select J (not F) space instead it prices at 100k instead of 67.5k.
It seems that CO.com is pricing it as two separate awards (NA to Japan, Japan to Australia) instead of one NA-Oz.
Am I right that I should be able to book this for 67.5k in J? And what should I do to get this? Just call or book a one-way in Y and then call to upgrade the itin to J? Any help much appreciated! thanks
