So, I have ruled out China Southern. However, based on some of your advice, I am now considering another SkyTeam partner - Korean Airlines (KE).

The total price on Korean Airlines is about $75 more expensive (for 4) than China Airlines so more or less the same. However, the connection time to LAX is 7:45 but the connection time back from LAX is only 1:40. As they are a Skyteam partner, I can get miles and can get access to the lounge. I also understand they would be flying the A380 from Seoul to LAX which would be nice to try. With the newer equipment, I assume the seats and AVOD should be better.

Before I book, I would like to ask the community once again to comment on China Airlines vs. Korean Airlines based on the same parameters as before.

Thanks.

Best idea I've heard yet. I am amazed that KE is not too expensive, I had thought it would be outrageous which is why I didn't mention it earlier. Jump on it and jump with conviction! ICN is a nice airport to transit even without lounge access, and presents no complications or visa gray areas. The KE inflight experience is bound to be one of the better Skyteam options TPAC.
