A COS may name themselves as their own companion. It allows one to get an extra seat paid for with CP status. You can also be the named companion of another person. What you can not do is fly as your own companion and the companion of another on the same flight.
I don't understand how that could be the case, given this wording:
" An individual may not travel as both a Member and a Companion on the same flight, except in Customer of Size instances.."
This seems specifically to prevent a third person, while permitting the COS to be someone's Companion and his own as well.
Otherwise, the "except" part makes no sense to me.
