Question then is if that status would be valid until march 2013, or June 30th 2013..
Status valid till end of March is not to account for retro-claim time but just to give FB the time to calculate status and prepare and send cards. They really should be able to do it faster but that gives them the buffer they need. When you make a retro-claim on FB, unlike BA EC, the credit is backdated to the date of travel. Should you, in April or May, make a retro-claim for December the year before which would translate into your status being higher than previously thought, your status would be updated (say gold instead of silver), you would receive a new card, and your benefits as gold should be retroactively credited as far as possible (that is, in practice, you should get the bonus miles corresponding to gold for all flights taken from 1 January). I believe this would be done automatically but if not, a letter explaining things to FB should sort this out without problem.
