When we called Delta and asked if we could change the flights (first leg a day earlier and then connect onward the next day) they said we had enough time and would only change for a fee. If we miss the onward flight, next flight is next day.
Immigration can take 1 hour or more at JFK.

Because we are traveling with two (in cabin) dogs, we will take a taxi between the two airports . Public transport does not allow pets.

Have others had experience with this amount of connection time and how did it go ? Do we have to recheck-in at LGA or does Delta check us in all the way ?

Thank you

What time do you arrive at JFK? Overall, 3 hrs. 25 min. should be ample time to transit between the 2 airports and deal with the logistics on both ends. The extra hour would have been nice and made for a more leisurly transit, but 3.5 hrs is quite feasible. Just don't dawdle.
