Hmm, I'm not sure I'm following you on this. Your flight returned to CDG due to a technical problem and safety should be clearly the 1st objective. Back on the ground, repair takes obviously some time and then the crew is out of hours. And so the flight is delayed. I don't see what's wrong with this outside the obvious inconvenience for everybody.

At least they took care of you giving you an hotel room. Would you have flown on a US airline from the US, you would have been on your own.
