I used to have Petroleum Club myself when I was in an oil company based in the Hague, but must say I never really took advantage of the benefits except some food vouchers at AMS before I reached FB Gold status and got lounge access. The experience you had at CDG sounds quite terrible really, and I must say it's not a good advertisement for their offering.
