I find it odd that they have a law like this yet allow BYOB restaurants. I was really surprised when we visited friends in March and they said we were going to a restaurant that lets you bring your own wine without charging a corking fee. I've never seen this anywhere else. How do you reconcile those two seemingly opposing regulations?
(Not complaining, as we bought a $12-15 bottle that probably would have sold for $40 on the wine list...just curious)
BYOB restaurants typically do not have a corking fee (at least in my experience). Corking fees exist at restaurants that serve their own wine to discourage BYOB.
