My son is a junior in HS, so I was actually interested in the current Fairfield promotion (
https://www.marriott.com/fairfield-i...sity-hotels.mi), though I'm probably more likely to spend some points rather than book this Fairfield package. Decided to go ahead and enter the accompanying the sweepstakes, only to find that we're not eligible. Even though most students who visit colleges are HS juniors and seniors, this sweepstakes is limited to families of HS seniors and college freshmen. Here are the conditions for the sweepstakes:
I am 21 years of age or older, a legal resident of the 50 US or Canada (excluding Quebec), and have [a] child[ren] or dependents[s] who will be enrolled in college or university during the upcoming 2011-2012 or 2012-2013 academic years and agree to the Official Rules.
And the promo period for the College Tour package:
Promotion begins on August 22, 2011 at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time ("ET") and ends on October 30, 2011 at 11:59 p.m. ET (the "Entry Period").
It seems highly unlikely that students enrolled in college for 2011-2012 will be visiting college campuses between now end the end of October. They'll probably be too busy with school to do so.
I guess that there's really no reason that the Fairfield Inn college tours package and the Fairfield Inn college expense sweepstakes have to be connected to or consistent with one another (though they do pimp them on the same page). It just seems weird to me that they're not.
