Bah, thousands of people do it every day, and the vast majority of them do not have lounge access, yet they survive perfectly well. Are we on FT becoming way too precious?

I did LHR-SIN-SYD, originally QF code, subsequently became BA after the collapse of AN, in a window seat (before I became a fan of aisle seats) and went for 10 hours without being able to get out to go to the loo.

THAT is torture, I nearly used the empty wine bottle, but luckily the rugby players woke up.

Flights of this length, even in WT or WT+, are NOT hell-on-earth, and to even suggest that you need a stopover to "recover" is stratching things well beyond what is plausible.

If you can, try and switch to the BA code/QF flight leaving LHR around lunch time, goes via SIN, gets you into SYD early evening, you will be in a state where you just want to go to bed, and you will wake up next morning jet-lag free.
