This statement is completely false and not based on statistics.

Continental operates flights for over 3,200 hours per day comprising of approximately 850 flights/cycles daily. Colgan operates flights for over 400 hours per day comprising of approximately 365 flights/cycles daily.

Colgan operates ~12.5% as many flight hours as Continental and 43% as many flights/cycles.

In the last 20 years, Colgan has had two fatal crashes, although it is notable that one of the flights was not carrying passengers.

In the last 20 years, Continental has had zero fatal crashes, despite operating 8x as many flight-hours and more than 2x as many flights/cycles.

That's not even beginning to evaluate the number of passenger-hours that would be heavily weighted by Continental's fleet of much larger aircraft. Or the safety record of the aircraft being operated, the amount of experience of flight crews, the size of airports being utilized and ARFF equipment available, etc.

So, "statisitcally(sic) speaking," Continental carries passengers for nearly 8x as many hours and with fewer accidents. The notion that Colgan is safer is simply ludicrous and false.
