It's like that at all US-based unionized airlines. Even better (for the FAs), some of the senior FAs bid for the prime trips and then trade away (sell) one, two or even all three of them. They can't do that every month and still get full benefits, but they don't have to fly very much if they don't want to.

Pilots are limited by the FAA as to their monthly/annual flight hours, and three trips to Asia per month is a full schedule (easily 70-90 hours). That's being gone nine days a month.
