I noticed that too - the darkest and straightest stamps in my passport are the German ones. I always seem to enter the UK when the CBP agent's inkpad is running dry, and one of my French stamps is right in the middle of the page and barely readable.

I too have a stamp when I entered the UK which is barely readable because of the lack of ink, and even worse is my stamp departing Athens last week.
