I signed up for the card (and got an instant approval message) 3 days ago. The card hasn't yet arrived, but I just noticed that my Marriott Rewards account was upgraded from "member" to "silver" today. Oddly enough, the 15 elite nights didn't post to the account, and my elite nights count is still < 10. The only change was the level.

Oh well, I'm not complaining.
