No one's first impulse on hearing about something like this is to say: "TSA!?? I don't believe it! I absolutely do NOT believe it! It can NOT be true!"
An organization's reputation is so easily tarnished, so painfully restored. I know I would find it demoralizing even if I weren't personally the problem.
TSA has worked very hard to get the reputation it has.
In my opinion that reputation has been fully earned.
