I'm planning to fly from Seoul on Delta7855 (operated by Korean Airlines) into JFK, then onwards the same day on Delta395 to Bogota (on Delta metal).

As these are all Delta flight numbers, will my hold baggage go through to Bogota, or do I have to collect my baggage at JFK and check-in for the Bogota leg?

My understanding is that at JFK I have to go through immigration and border control, collect baggage, and then check-in with Delta again. True?
