Not quite. MCI was built to be very customer friendly with gates 100 ft from the curb. When the need for security checkpoints arrived, KC officials refused to rebuild MCI to accommodate security. TWA moved the hub from MCI to STL in 1982 due to security needs. TWA bought Ozark in 1986.

Side note: I miss Ozark. I loved flying that airline. Kind of fitting as I live IN the Ozarks and grew up in Ozark, Missouri. And I loved flying into STL. The terminal is a classic design, quite beautiful. It is sadly missed.
