If there was any serious risk that cell phone use during flight or during takeoff and landing might cause a plane to crash, do you really think the government would let us carry them onboard at all?
There's probably a one in a trillion chance (or slimmer) that someone could harm an airplane with a liquid bomb, and viola, the very next day (Aug 10, 2006) - we aren't allowed to carry on large liquids anymore. Anywhere in the world.
Cell phones? If there was any possibility - no matter how remote - the government employees at the Risk Avoidance Over-reaction Administration would ban cell phones and the TSA would search us for them and prohibit them from airplanes. Period.
As Spiff said - MYOB is the best policy.
