Proper way to dispute a misquoted hotel rate?
Good afternoon,
I'm hoping my fellow FT'ers can provide some guidance:
Two weeks ago, I booked a 4-night reservation at a prominent southern resort/inn for spring of 2012 through their website.
The reservation engine quoted me a nightly rate of $700 per night including a nice spa package. It looked like a great deal so I made my reservations with a credit card and was charged the one night deposit.
Fast forward to this week. The resort left a message stating that the website was mistaken. Instead, the spa package had a 2-night maximum and my reservation actually came out to $1,100 per night for four nights!
That's a $2,000+ discrepancy!
I haven't called them back yet. Frankly, I think they should honor the rate. It's what came up on the website and was clearly priced out at the $700+ per night rate. However, I don't know if I'm off base.
We will probably have to cancel the entire reservation if they won't budge.
Any thoughts or similar experiences?
Thanks,
golakers
