To YYCOllie, while I'm not 100% certain my gut tells me that a widebody is big in all the wrong ways for the E-Jets. Rollaboards have to go sideways so it could be an issue.
My wife insists on carrying a regulation-size-yet-expandable carry-on and with a bit of conviction I have no problem fitting it into E90s -- sideways of course.

My regulation Rimowa fits great, with some extra space to spare (implying that US-size carryons would fit to).
