Different rates for walk-in vs online booking
Last week I was going to book a room in a typically overbooked area and got a "best rate" option from Hilton.com at $159. I waited, thinking I might get something else, but found their rates were similar or worse. Just on a whim, I went in (it was a Hampton Inn) and asked in they had any rooms. The best rate offered by the hotel was $119, which I gladly took. The rooms were the same, 1 vanilla king (no studio, no jacuzzi, etc...)
Is it usually the case that properties are offering rates better than online?
