A question.

I am looking to travel with my wife to London, GE and GE partner, in BP if possible. What are your thoughts on the best way to utilise airpoints (assuming availability). We have no shortage of airpoints so could look at any combination of discount business awards, companion flights, upgrades etc.

But, it seems that if i can confirm the smartest choice would be to book a cheap round trip in Y and then use standby upgrades. This is 8 x 730 so 5840 AP$ whereas two business discount returns would be 12,760 AP$? have I got the maths right?

if so, can I confirm a GE partner into the standby upgrade since we are travelling together and does it matter if they are her points rather than mine? Finally, what booking class do i look for on KVS tool?
