OK, got my approval status and directions to schedule an interview. Here's the question: The interview scheduler says I can do the GE enrollment at Otay Mesa land crossing, which is considerably more convenient than LAX. (I would have done this months ago if I'd known I could do it there, rather than drive up to LA.)

The trouble is that Otay Mesa is quoting first appointments in December; LA has availability later this week.

Questions:
- Has anybody had luck calling an enrollment center directly and getting a "sure, come on down"?
- Has anybody gone through GE enrollment at a land border? Any downsides?
