I have a perfect solution to your question, because I know an awesome deal for this route, which I flew before and I will fly again.

During the low season, the M-class ticket will cost you CAD$1750 INCLUDING tax. This allows DOUBLE STOPOVER in HK (ie. you can stay in HK on your way to Sydney and back), and allows date change. Subject to cancellation penalty, and I believe it's 1 year open. The published fare for this route will cost you $6140, but I guess this Chinese travel agent has a special tie-up with CX to offer this attractive price. During the peak season, even in the Xmas time, the cost will be slightly below $2000. (I think it was $1970)

This price is valid for all Australian destinations. For example, I think you can fly to Sydney, and return from Brisbane if you wish. This fare accumilates Club miles and Asiamiles, so you fly this route once, and you will be 2/3 to the Silver level! It's a great deal, because when I bought a B-class ticket roundtrip from HKG-YVR, it still costs me more than 2000 dollars.
