When traveling in Business Class on AA to or from Central America, you are entitled to same-day Admirals Club access at both the origin and destination of your Business Class ticket. So a PTY-MIA J class ticket will give you access at MIA (and at PTY too, if there is a lounge there). No guests, though.

Admirals Club access rules here:

Thank you very much. The deciding quote appears to be (from the AA page link):

"American Airlines First Class and Business Class passengers traveling on, or connecting to or from an American Airlines international* flight have access to the Admirals Club on the same-day of their international flight. "

Thanks again. I hope the AA staff are as well informed as members of this forum.

Tim.
Actually, it's the phrase immediately preceding what you bolded that gets you in. You are flying in Business on an AA international flight. You would have Admirals Club access in MIA even if you were not flying out of MIA on a connecting flight. (Whether you could get through security to access the Admirals Club after clearing MIA Customs is another matter.)

The bolded phrase would get you in at the DCA Admirals Club if you were flying, say, PTY-MIA-DCA, or DCA-MIA-PTY.
