Thanks for the info and the perspective. Fortunately I'm a big outdoor enthusiast so bugs are not a problem. It's the islands, and to me something to be expected. And top notch food is something I can live without. I live in NY and visit Paris often. Michelin starred restaurants are the norm so I'm sure I can live with average food for a brief while. (I just hope its at least not dog food given what you pay for.)
I'm more interested in the room itself, the serenity of the property, the house reef and overall service - although how much service will I need on an island where the idea is to do nothing?
Any comments on Naladhu against Huvafen Fushi or Baros since you've been there before? Thanks.
Well, Naladhu does not have a house reef. The water is ocean, right up to the beach. The views are of other properties - not particularly serene compared to other resorts I have experienced. Baros, too, does not have a house reef - the water consists of waves onto beach, not turquoise lagoon. I once tried to board a seaplane from here and it was impossible due to the crashing waves, so you see what I mean!
Huvafen Fushi is better in terms of reef, but from what you are saying, you like pared-back, back-to-nature, in which case you would appreciate Soneva Fushi in the Baa Atoll.
