Here's a real problem, from where I sit. According to the Detroit News article, the airplane was parked a long ways from the terminal and held for over half an hour.

Cops in SWAT garb with dogs boarded the airplane, ordered every pax to keep their hands on the seat in front of them while they marched down the aisle to the frequent toileteers. Then marched them off the airplane in handcuffs. They were then questioned and released.

If the Detroit News is correct and that really is all there is too it, (and I believe it, as my wife has to pee 30 seconds after the gear is up), then we are going to have a real problem.

Some one, some where is going to panic, have an anxiety attack, and do something stupid. And when that happens, things are going to get out of control, rapidly, and a trigger happy cop, or overly terrified passenger will make a mistake in judgment and someone is going to get killed. Perhaps more than one. It has happened before and it will happen again.

There have been a number of these incidents over the past several years involving aircraft (not just commercial airliners), where unsuspecting passengers were rushed at gunpoint using assault weapons and tactics in California.

Isn't it time we came to our senses?
