Since immigration clearance in SIN is so easy, and security is done only at the departure gate, why not just go to the baggage counter and get it over and done with. The gate may not have the necessary facilities to check your document and as this is a LCC, you don't want to wait till the last minute to find out that they can't board you cos they didn't see you at the counter as they've cancelled your reservation as a no-show!
