I think the 747 FC is much better. It feels more private and roomier up front in the nose of the plane than the A340.

The 747 has a lovely little hallway, a bouquet of flowers by the doors and two large bathrooms. The bathrooms on the A340 are much smaller. To get to one of them you have to go through the galley.

Another advantage of the 747 is that as you look forward you see a calm quiet setting since the galley is behind you. On the A340 the galley is in the front so you are constantly being distracted by all the commotion.

Hands down I vote for the 747 and although there is quite a bit of discussion on the best seat in FC. I still love 4A or 4K for the generous amount of personal space and the privacy when reclined. You can only reserve these seats on the day of departure since they are held for people with infants.
