Well that kind of answers your question as to the value of the BA programme: For a few hundred dollars more than the Delta cash price, a small number of BA miles and 150 tier points you can fly Club World instead of coach. MFU from WTP is generally the best value overall. Personally that strikes me as a good deal, YMMV.
So just buy the coach ticket and use the points for the upgrade? That is interesting, and would seem to be a good value. Thanks for the tip.
