That is why my phone has airplane mode so it doesn't waste its battery trying to search for a cell signal and I can continue listening to my music throughout take off .

Also, I can't count the number of times I've accidentally left my phone on in my pocket and forgot to turn it off and somehow all the planes I've been on have landed.

Heck go read a few flying forums, pilots leave their cellphones on all the time in the cockpit.
