Sorry for popping in on a forum I don't usually frequent, but the thread title caught my eye.

My impression of the message to the OP is that it was written by someone who knows what the words mean, but not what they imply, and definitely not a native English speaker. I would guess the writer is, for lack of a better term, invoking a few assumptions about the OP's preferences in establishments that are incorrect, and perhaps a correction of the assumptions, using the OP's prefered descriptive term, might get the message across.
