This will be my first visit to Bangkok, for 3 nights/4days over the xmas holidays. My objective is sightseeing and visiting the main destinations in the city, and I am now looking for a hotel with good acceess to transportation that also provides comfort and a decent breakfast. I have done some google searches, but find the options quite overwhelming, hence my request for some suggestions. I found the following three choices appealing in terms of price and features but am not sure in terms of location, or if there are others that may offer better value:

• President Solitaire
• President Palace
• Majestic Grande

Please provide some opinions on relative merits or alternative choices. Thanks.

Edit: having a hard time decding between sukhumvit (e.g. adelphi suites) and riverside (e.g. chatrium). Keeping my eye open in the deals thread too ...
